Range monitor for a scalar measurement: spike filter, time-based EMA, soft limits with alarm delay, hard limits, fault detection.
Watches any scalar quantity — temperature, humidity, pressure — against a range. A median-of-3 spike filter and a time-based EMA smooth the value; soft limits raise an alarm only after a configurable delay (tolerating defrost cycles, opened doors), hard limits raise it at once. Invalid samples become a FAULT after their own delay. Every transition is reported, every time rule uses the real time between samples, and the state machine runs on a host PC for testing and data replay. No dynamic allocation; thread-safe on ESP32 with a static FreeRTOS mutex.
